AR / VR / XR
I began my work in real-time graphics back in 2011 using Orad (a very old AR system) at Turner Studios for their real-time sports graphics. I never anticipated this would later pave the way for thrilling opportunities in the AR/VR/XR domain. As technology progresses and becomes more accessible to the public, I find myself evolving alongside it, embracing new horizons and possibilities. Lately, I've moved beyond just making 3D assets. With over 13 years of experience under my belt, my strength has become developing ideas, concepting the visuals to creativel direct the team and pitching projects to clients create some real magic and unforgettable experiences.
AVP: Domino Pro
Wanting to incorporate simple physics into an app, our team decided to make a quick app called Domino Pro. It was a fun but challenging sprint! Below is a gallery of my work within the design process, features, menus and many iterations as we decided on what to produce in such a short time, as well as some user testing.
Meta: Augments
Augments are an amazing innovation from Meta to create spacial widgets that can be interacted with in the Quest headsets. We had the privilege of working on an array of widget designs. Some were released, some were just for testing or pitches. A few even made it into Zuckerberg's keynotes. Below is some of my favorite contributions and idea pitches for what these augments could potentially be as they continue to evolve.
The Weather Channel
In 2018, The Weather Channel introduced the IMR (Immersive Mixed Reality) Initiative, aimed at injecting excitement into weather forecasting. Joining the team, I spent three exhilarating years pushing boundaries and pioneering innovative forecasting tools, driven by a passion for creativity and outside-the-box thinking. I was also tasked to concept "Hero Images" for mixed reality explainers that put the Meteorologists in environments and situations that would of been dangerous in real life.
AVP: Sprint
As soon as the Apple Vision Pro was released, our team began a sprint to find the edges of the techs capabilities. We came together for a two week spring to ideate and iterate 2 different mini game apps that involved different spatial and hand tracking challenges, Bubble popping and Shooting Hoops (originally pitches as other sports as well) that can be placed anywhere around the room.
Coachella
Coachella is known for being leaders in XR with their music festivals. Leaning into what the new headsets capabilities we were able to work with them to create a mini Coachella experience to be experienced in headsets and to give users the feeling of experiencing the festival from their own home.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
This was a fun filter project that was launched on Instagram. The ask was to develop some idease for filters for the new TMNT movie. We landed on a tamagotchi of the baby turtles and a fun quiz asking which turtle are you.
Turner Sports + Eleague
My journey began at Turner, where I kickstarted my career in real-time graphics using their Orad system in 2011. From crafting intricate set pieces to overcoming technological hurdles, I earned my first Emmy nomination at just 22. Over seven rewarding years, I contributed to multiple Emmy-winning augmented reality projects, leaving a mark with captivating creations. Dive into my reels section to witness these AR graphics come to life!
Quest 3 Mini Games
Our team was tasked to create some simple mini games for the Quest, and we had a ton of fun ideating on what was deemed "simple" but still had captivating and fun game play. We came up with 3 mini games, Spot the Difference, (both abstract and mini scenes), Reaction Training, and Spatial Memory. Below is my exploration and pieces of the creative process. Although these didn't ultimately make it to the app store they were still a blast to work on and taught us a lot about Quests 3's limitations.
Architectural Visualization
I had the privilege of serving as a Creative Director at an Arch Viz company for two years starting in 2021. In this role, I led a talented team of artists and engineers, collaborating closely to bridge the gap between our clients' visions and their desired outcomes. I was often hands on with building assets and creating before and afters to try and showcase changes needed It was a rewarding experience where I had the opportunity to foster innovation and ensure our clients' needs were not just met, but exceeded.
Remembrance
A client approached our team with a heartfelt vision: to create an app that enables loved ones to maintain a connection with those they've lost, offering a mixed reality experience at gravesites. We embarked on an exhilarating journey, brainstorming various approaches to fulfill this poignant idea. Ultimately, we settled on a beautiful concept—a tree adorned with hanging items, allowing loved ones to populate it with photos, videos, recipes, and more through a user-friendly phone app.
